I posted my first Finish Along list in April 2015 when it was still a “big thing” and hosted on blogland. But even though it switched to @finishalong on Instagram, I never looked back. I still post my WIP list here on the blog and in a short version on IG. For me it is a very necessary and thus awesome tool – to keep track, to stay motivated… to hopefully, finally reduce the – for me overwhelming – number of WIPs… Sometimes there are also prizes involved – though that is just a nice bonus :)
Finishes
What I accomplished last quarter
First finish was Little Kingdom. This oversized baby quilt is for the second daugther of my dear friend. I really enjoyed upgrading the little kingdom to a slightly bigger one with two extra villages and some fuzzy-cut inhabitants. And the trip to the Baltic Sea for the photoshoot is one of my favorite days from this summer!
PS: The quilt for her first daughter was “Precious” aka Gemstone Tumbler :)
Next up was my “Jungle Tiles” quilt.
I made this second version of the Modern Tiles pattern for the Sew Along. And I am very much in love with the confetti layout and the extra circles in the border!
Quilt Buzz Bingo is always a fun community activity and so I couldn’t resist jumping in for version 2021. This quilt was not on the FAL list but was started and finished within the quarter ;)
Inspired by the main red butterfly fabric this color combination was a bit out of my comfort zone but I am happy with the finish.
WIP List
All my current projects
Of course I had hoped to finish more WIPs, but three is a pretty good amount in my book. And as I am still at the magic number of twelve projects… I am a happy quilter ;)
I hope that whatever your goal was, that you reached it and are happy with your sewing. All the best for the next quarter and all your Christmas sewing.
Stay well,
xo Melanie
Isn’t it amazing that some projects just sneak in between the planned projects. Such is life, I feel. We organize and plan and proceed while some stuff just happens magically. As long as you are a happy quilter, enjoying your work and inspiring others, the number of projects is immaterial. Wishing you loads of creativity and tons of sewing time in Q4 2021. Hope we can meet soon. Lots of love and big squishy hugs!!!
