Phew, this post is also very late, but there are still two months left in this quarter and I personally love to have an overview of all my open WIPs. Maybe this will inspire you to take stock of yours too? I am for sure in the mood to finish some ;)
I posted my first Finish Along list in April 2015 when it was still a “big thing” and hosted on blogland. But even though it switched to @finishalong on Instagram and appears to have died out, I never looked back. I still post my WIP list here on the blog and in a short version on IG. For me it is a very necessary and thus awesome tool – to keep track, to stay motivated… to hopefully, finally reduce the – for me overwhelming – number of WIPs…
Finishes
What I accomplished last quarter
Last quarter I finished two projects that were on the list and one additional one. I also made lots of progress on my Meadowland quilt “Add Jewels” and finished up the scraps of my old Modern Tiles quilt into a new quilt top that is now on the list :)
The Frond baby quilt was finished and gifted in January.
The Spikes & Diamonds pattern released January 29th and my own quilt (top) Spikes is finished.
The Hovea Quilt Coat was always on my wish list for QuiltCon though it did not make it on the list. I finished it last minute which you can read all about in the blog post ;)
WIP List
All my current projects

my soon to arrive second nephew needs a baby quilt

my partner from the advent calendar swap is still patiently waiting. I better get this to the top of my list…

… as well as this project. The recipient either forgot about it or calls me names by now.
My WIP count is still climbing but I nonetheless feel very productive – maybe not on the most important projects, but I am trying to get there. This weekend is a long one – Monday is a bank holiday here. So I plan to see some progress by then. Overall I am sewing a lot and am thus seeing progress on my WIPs. That feels awesome! So I am still very happy and also very optimistic to actually see a decrease in numbers with all this progress soon.
How do you handle the priority of projects? Any tips on how to get motivated to sew the “must do” things before the just-for-fun things? Asking for a friend ;)
Best wishes,
xo Melanie
I love how you display your FAL list, this is a very good idea and a great way to have all of them remembered ;) Well done with the finishes, Spikes & Diamonds is beautiful! Your coat too ;)
You do have a lot going on but what beautiful projects. My only suggestion to work on the “must do” things is to reward yourself once you do – ie. time to work on what you really want to after you make progress on the must do. Or buy a backing instead of making one to speed things up. Or something like that. OR swap from the oldest to the newest and back and forth to see if mixing things up like that helps. OR another favorite – finish the smallest one first! I also like to have projects at different stages. IE. Get one ready to bind so you can do that relaxing in the evening while doing your piecing during the day. There’s a few ideas! Good luck making the progress you hope for.
