These pictures were taken in the new Deutschlandhaus*.
The first Deutschlandhaus was built 1929 according to plans by architects Fritz Block and Ernst Hochfeld and included the Ufa-Palast cinema, then Europe’s largest cinema with seats for 2,700 visitors.
Heavily damaged during the Second World War it was completely renovated but needed a much bigger overhaul. After a full demolition, in 2024 the new building, designed by renowned architect Hadi Teherani and inspired by the old visuals, opened its doors.
The main renter is the Haspa, the bank I work for. And I love the feeling of this modern building with its palm tree garden in a huge atrium. And with the recent job change, I found it a fun site to take some quilt pictures for you :)
*The link above includes German and English information about the rebuild including some gorgeous pictures.

Reception was slightly confused about the new guest lounging there. But we do love a good chance to talk and explain (all about) quilts, right?

These fun pictures were taken in front of an indoor wall I just found last Thursday during a workshop.

I am sure in such a huge building I will find surprises for a while. So maybe there can be another photo shoot experience? A big shout-out goes to my colleague for playing quilt holder and suggesting ideas.
As usual, for all the (progress) pictures and information, including details of the quilt cost and fabric calculations, see the post in the gallery.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my finish in my new work environment. I can also confirm that I have fully adjusted. Who knew that finding the perfect public transport route would elevate so much stress?! Starting to feel fully “at home & happy” :)
Best wishes,
xo Melanie
